Aromas de Santiago is more than a cigar brand—it is the continuation of a family dream that has traveled across generations and borders. 

Our story begins in the hills of Santiago de Cuba, where, according to our family’s history, my great-grandfather cultivated tobacco on a small farm and handcrafted cigars under the private label El Sol del Oriente before the Cuban Revolution. Though the brand was small and local, it left a lasting impression on our family and became the beginning of a tradition that would inspire future generations.My grandfather grew up surrounded by that heritage. A devoted cigar smoker, he often shared stories about his father, the tobacco farm, and El Sol del Oriente. Those stories sparked a lifelong passion for tobacco in my father, who was the youngest of five siblings. In 1997, my father emigrated to Costa Rica, carrying with him the dream of one day creating a cigar brand of his own. After years of hard work in the tobacco industry, that dream became reality. In February 2008, he officially registered Aromas de Santiago and opened a small cigar factory dedicated to producing handcrafted cigars inspired by the traditions of Santiago de Cuba. Despite his dedication, economic challenges eventually forced the factory to close. But while the doors closed, the dream never disappeared. In 2022, I immigrated to the United States in search of new opportunities. Like millions before me, I came to the land of opportunity with the hope of building something meaningful. As I worked toward establishing my own future, I realized that I also had the chance to continue my father’s dream. Today, Aromas de Santiago represents the next chapter in our family’s journey. Our cigars are handcrafted in Costa Rica using traditional Cuban techniques, honoring the heritage that began generations ago while looking toward the future.

Every cigar we produce carries a piece of our family’s history—of perseverance, craftsmanship, and the belief that dreams can endure across generations.
